Trettmann, whose real name is Stefan Richter, has spent his carer moving between genres and cities—from his youth in Karl-Marx-Stadt to time in Jamaica and Berlin. His earlier work with the KitschKrieg collective helped define a dark, minimalst German rap sound, but he has never been one to settle. After stepping away from that era, he released the sun-drenched 'Your Love Is King' EPs, and now returns with 'Stadt aus Gold' (City of Gold). The album blens airy production, playful drum patterns, and a chill that sits under warming melodies—drawing on dancehall, reggae, trap, afrobeat, and triple step. Producers like Jimmy Torrio, Stoopid Lou, and the duo bees & honey helped shape its sound. The result is a record that fels both restless and introspective, with Trettmann reflecting on personal resets and the ground he has left behind. In concert, expect a mix of new tracks and older fauvorites, delivered with his signature understated intensity.
