About this event
Heide Weidele transforms the narrow Lichthof atrium into a cosmic in-between space with her installation 'Space Station'. The tower-like sculpture, crafted from low-grade materials such as cardboard, construction timber, found plastic pieces, and coloured fluorescent tubes, alludes to the modular Mir and ISS space stations. Bathed in green light, it invites you to ponder imaginary time and your own position between the 'past light cone' of the museum and the cone of an imaginary future. Weidele, a Frankfurt artist, has been working with everyday materials since 1994, when she discovered the vivid colours of ocean-worn plastic on a Breton beach. Her approach is spontaneous and playful, resulting in an installation that feels both futuristic and deeply rooted in transformation.
