About this event
Eszter Salamon, known for works on female subjectivities and feminist genealogies, presents a video documentary lecture drawn from her long-term exploration of mother-daughter relationships. The evening weaves together footage she created with her own mother Erzsébet Gyarmati and with the real-life pairs Sulekha Ali Omar and Safia Abdi Haase, and Christine Nypan and Drude Haga. Rather than assuming the mother-daughter bond is natural, the lecture reframes care, empathy, and identity as a choreographic practice — a continual renegotiation of closeness and distance. The lecture is in English, lasts 70 minutes, and is a seated event. It is part of the “The Lesser Told Story” festival and the overarching “How to Make a Life?” programme. The blend of artistic research and intimate encounter makes it a good fit for anyone interested in contemporary dance, performance, or feminist discourse.
