Bunte Frauen

About this event

The play thrives on the rapid-fire exchange between its two characters, played by Derya Sahin and Claudia Dorothera Bernhard. Elli stayed at home, Anna went out into the world, and now their opposing life choices collide in their parents’ kitchen. Layer by layer, a family history shaped by abuse and neglect comes to the surface. Director Kosmas Chatziioannidis and the Frankfurt-based ensemble BunteFrauen have long been drawn to female perspectives and socially relevant material. In Vasilis Ziogas’s „Bunte Frauen“, performed in German, they tackle heavy themes with pace and a dark sense of humour – spite and affection, laughter and pain clash in equal measure. The evening feels closer to an intimate chamber film than big theatrical gestures, and it lives from the way the two actors let the sisters swing between tenderness and merciless argument.
