About this event
A gloriously silly parody of the Nibelungenlied, done in the spirit of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. King Gunther’s hopelessly dim-witted knights are chosen to save the world from Armageddon, and they bumble through a gauntlet of bloodthirsty mermaids, enraged dragons, castrated werewolves, and lecherous satyrs. The Frankfurt-based ensemble, led by writer/director Thorsten Morawietz and featuring performers Simone Greiß, Sebastian Huther, Christoph Maasch, Birte Sieling and Jeannette Treusch, delivers a high-speed mix of bawdy jokes, wordplay and slapstick. The show is performed entirely in German, so a working knowledge of the language will help you catch every pun, though much of the physical comedy and sheer chaos needs no translation. It’s an evening of irreverent, adult-centric humour that knowingly tramples the pomp of heroic epics.
