About this event
Pianist Tim Scherer, 25, grew up between Japan, Germany and the United States, and the ballads of Keith Jarrett and Masabumi Kikuchi have stayed with him ever since. His trio, with Roz Macdonald on bass and Lisa Wilhelm on drums, turns that fascination into a distinctive approach: melodic compositions and free passages flow seamlessly into each other, creating floating, fragile soundscapes built on a rubato feel and deep mutual trust. The evening rewards close listening. The three musicians move as one, shaping moments that feel both composed and spontaneous, and the Romanfabrik’s intimate setting amplifies that sense of shared discovery. The programme is purely acoustic jazz – no lyrics, no amplification tricks – so it works just as well for seasoned jazz fans as for anyone looking to spend an evening with beautifully restrained live music. Presented in cooperation with the Jazz-Initiative Frankfurt.
