Bill Laurance & Michael League

About this event

The two have known each other since their student days, when they bonded over a shared appetite for anything that was fun: classical, soul, folk, jazz. Bill Laurance on piano and Michael League on fretless bass and oud were both part of the early circle that grew into Snarky Puppy, the collective that defied genre boundaries. Their duo is the counterpoint to that big-band spectacle – scaled down, intimate, and without a backing band. Laurance keeps the piano to melodies and concise improvisation, while League explores the oud from his own angle, drawing filigree, richly detailed soundscapes. In Frankfurt they present their new album, recorded in April 2026 during a week-long session at Château Palmer, one of Bordeaux’s most famous vineyards – the sound is deliberately pure and organic, with no overdubbing and little technology. A seated, attentive listening experience in the Mozart Saal, this concert suits anyone who enjoys finely textured instrumental music and the creative push-and-pull of two longtime musical companions.
