Pianist Michael Wollny is celebrated for crafting deeply atmospheric, cinematic sound worlds. His new solo programme ‘Winterreise’ draws on moods and motifs from Franz Schubert's song cycle of the same name, tracing a solitary wanderer through winter landscapes. For Wollny, the source material is merely a starting point for musical narratives whose twists and turns reveal themselves along the way. This rare solo concert offers an intimate glimpse into his dark-romantic sensibility and seemingly endless well of improvisational ideas – a genuine pianistic journey of the soul.
