Andreas Gabalier has built a career fusing Alpine folk music with rock and pop into what he calls "Volks-Rock'n'Roll" – usually delivered in lederhosen and with an energy that fills stadiums. For this tour he is marking the tenth anniversary of his MTV Unplugged appearance by deliberately swapping large arenas for classical concert halls. The Frankfurt show takes place in the Großer Saal of the Alte Oper, a setting that suits the reworked approach: Gabalier and his band play fully acoustic arrangements, expanded by a ten-piece string ensemble. The strings add depth and dynamic range to songs such as "Hulapalu" and "Amoi seg' ma uns wieder" without losing the hand-made feel of the music.
