This evening brings Kathrine Kressmann Taylor's epistolary novel "Address Unknown" to the stage in a staged adaptation by Hannelore Bähr. Manuel Klein and Michael Raphael Klein play the two correspondents: German gallerist Martin Schulse, who returns to his homeland in 1932, and his Jewish business partner Max Eisenstein. What begins as a friendly exchange of letters becomes a harrowing document of how a person is seduced by National Socialism and deep trust shatters. The piece thrives on language, on the mounting tension between the lines, and culminates in a twist that lingers long after. Part of the annual "Week Against Forgetting" around 9 November, the performance unfolds in the intimate setting of the Holzhausenschlösschen as a concentrated two-actor reading with theatrical elements.
