Winter Lights at the Palmengarten

As darkness falls, the Palmengarten turns into a glowing dreamscape. The paths lead you past a sparkling light tunnel, a shimmering pond, and giant illuminated flowers. Along the way, surprising light objects appear: a six-metre ghost ship, luminous unicorns, and an installation where AI‑generated figures dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. Gentle soundscapes and drifting mist thicken the atmosphere, making a stroll through the winter gardens feel almost magical. If you want a more intense close‑up, you can join a torchlight tour through the Tropicarium (extra charge, on selected dates). In small groups of up to 15 people, you explore the tropical greenhouses armed only with a flashlight – palm fronds cast mysterious shadows and you discover blooms and fruit that would otherwise stay hidden in the dark. For food and drink, several stalls serve mulled wine, children’s punch, hot sausages, waffles and more. A small exhibition about the Leipzig Palmengarten adds a cultural note. The walk is self‑guided and relaxed; you stay on the paths and can linger as long as you like. Families with children, couples and groups of friends all enjoy it.
