About this event

The exhibition dives into the story of Sargassum, a brown algae that since 2011 has been forming massive mats in the Atlantic and washing up on Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico coasts. The film 'Beyond Sargassum', original seaweed specimens, and examples of the algae's diverse inhabitants illustrate the tension between its role as a unique habitat and the damage it causes to sea turtles, coral reefs and human health.
