About this event
An evening that combines a thought-provoking literary reading with a convivial New Year's reception. Dana Vowinckel, known for her widely discussed debut Gewässer im Ziplock, reads from her new novel Anton und Alma. The story follows two former university friends whose bond is tested by the events of October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in Gaza. Anton seeks comfort and refuge with Alma, but a deep rift soon opens between them, turning their relationship into a microcosm of a fissured world. Afterwards, author and moderator Benno Hennig von Lange will discuss the novel and its themes. Following the reading, the Literaturhaus board, curators, and team welcome members, guests, authors, and publishing people to mark the start of the 2027 programme year. Over drinks and conversation, you can mingle with Frankfurt’s literary community in the elegant surroundings of the Lesekabinett. The reception is free and does not require registration—just stay after the reading or join at 19:30.
