New Year’s Concert 2027

About this event

The Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt’s 2027 New Year’s concert, themed “Wo die Lerche singt” (Where the Lark Sings), is a playful spin through music’s animal kingdom. Johann Strauss and friends supply waltzes about swallows, polkas about grumpy bears, and marches that parade the whole menagerie – kept buoyant by orchestral virtuosos and two vocal soloists. Chefdirigent Jens Troester emcees with sharp humour, stitching together classics, operetta, and a handful of canny surprises. Alongside the Strauss-style bonbons, the programme slips in “Memory” from Cats, Henry Mancini’s Pink Panther Theme, Rossini’s The Thieving Magpie overture, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee. Lehár, Kálmán, and Offenbach polish off the evening for operetta fans. The mood is festive, light-footed, and deliberately unpretentious – an upbeat start to the year.
