All Under One Christmas Tree

About this event

Lo Malinke's Christmas comedy, adapted from a hit film, turns a family gathering into a high-speed farce of fibs and unmaskings. Elli – a couple therapist who wrote a bestseller on honesty – and Robert, a doctor, divorced three years ago but never told their three adult children. Every December Robert moves back into the family home and the two perform wedded bliss. This year, however, Robert's new partner Chrissi and Elli's twenty-two-year-younger driving instructor Micha insist on spending the holiday with their respective sweethearts. Cue a cascade of desperate cover stories, surprise guests, and escalating chaos that eventually sets the Christmas tree alight. Directed by Frank-Lorenz Engel and staged by Dietrich von Grebmer, the production leans on razor-sharp comic timing and a cast of seasoned stage actors – including Stephanie Theiß and Marko Pustisek as the scheming ex-couple – many of whom are familiar faces to Frankfurt audiences. The play runs about two hours and fifteen minutes including an interval. Lighthearted and firmly in the realm of classical boulevard comedy, the show requires German language skills to follow the fast-paced wordplay.
