José Carreras & Plácido Domingo – Grand Opera Gala

About this event

This evening brings together two voices that shaped opera’s modern history: José Carreras, whose lyrical and emotionally profound interpretations blend elegance with deep personal expression, and Plácido Domingo, a versatile figure who has influenced operatic life for decades as a singer, conductor and mentor of young talent. Together with Luciano Pavarotti they formed ‘The Three Tenors‘ and became icons of classical music. Joining them is Greek soprano Christina Poulitsi, admired for her brilliant coloratura and expressive power – she has performed the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” over 270 times. The Philharmonie Baden-Baden under David Giménez provides the orchestral frame; Giménez is a seasoned gala conductor who pairs precision with a feel for festive atmosphere. Th e programme moves through beloved arias and duets, selected songs and musical treasures from beyond the opera stage – a varied cross-section of opera and more, delivered by three outstanding voices and a fine orchestra.
