About this event
Spread across multiple squares and streets in the old town — Römerberg, Paulsplatz, Mainkai, Hauptwache, Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz and Roßmarkt — the market offers handicrafts, Christmas decorations, gifts and seasonal food from all over the world. Don't miss the Frankfurt classics: Bethmännchen (little marzipan balls with almonds), Quetschemännchen (charming dried-plum figures) and a mug of hot apple wine. A dedicated Children's Christmas Market on Mainkai near the Eiserne Steg bridges gives younger visitors craft workshops, storytelling, magic shows, a carousel and live music in a cosy tent. The market also features traditional highlights such as tower horn concerts from St Nicholas Church, the grand chiming of Frankfurt's church bells, a visit from Santa Claus on 6 December, and historic Christmas train rides. The 'Pink Christmas' area on Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, decorated entirely in shades of pink, is a popular LGBTQ+-welcoming corner of the market.
