Claudia Bubenheim and her team run this cosy little Christmas market on Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz. Everything is decked out in pink – from the tree to the stalls – and the mood is warm and welcoming. At its heart are the mulled wine from the Winzer stand and Marion’s legendary Feuerzangenbowle: a potent mix of overproof rum, red wine, a flaming sugar loaf and spices like cinnamon, cloves and star anise. Champagner is also on offer for those who prefer bubbles. The other stalls serve roast almonds, crêpes and hearty savoury food, so you can line your stomach while you drink. The market is a well-established meet-up spot for Frankfurt’s LGBTQ+ community and anyone open-minded; it’s easy to strike up a conversation with strangers, while away a few hours with friends, or just soak up the festive season. Sitting right next to Hauptwache, it’s perfect for a casual drop-in, and because admission is free there’s no barrier to popping by.
