The Christmas market in the courtyard of the Thurn & Taxis Palais is the quieter, more elegant counterpart to the sprawling Frankfurt Christmas Market with its 230-plus stalls stretching through the city centre. Inside the historic palais courtyard you will find a compact market where fairy lights, festive decorations and live music set a relaxed tone. The focus is on mulled wine, hot drinks and seasonal bites – from classic roasted chestnuts and waffles to local Frankfurt specialities like Bethmännchen (marzipan pastries). Live music adds a warm, unhurried atmosphere, making this a good place for a laid-back evening stroll with a partner or a group of friends who prefer something calmer than the main market crowds. Unlike the main market, which features a dedicated children’s Christmas area, a carousel, and craft activities, the Palais market is geared towards adults. You will not find specific children’s entertainment, but the experience is family-friendly in a general sense. Opening hours are longer than the central market: weekdays and Saturdays until 23:00, Sundays until 21:00.
