About this event
The evening opens with a welcome from Martin Sonntag, director of the Caricatura Museum, who introduces the house of comic art. Ralph Caspers, known for his children's science shows and relaxed talent for making knowledge entertaining, then speaks about Star Trek as a pop-cultural phenomenon. A unique touch comes from Lieven L. Litaer, a Klingon language teacher,, who delivers a greeting in the series' invented tongue – setting the playful, nerdy tone for the night. The exhibition itself gathers 125 cartoons by 31 German- language comic artists,, including Katharina Greve, Oli Hilbring, Ari Plikat and ©TOM. It is the visual companion to the cartoon book „Lebe lang und lache“ („Live Long and Laugh“). The works affectionately roast the characters,, starships and logical loopholes of the Star Trek universe – from Spock's ears to the holodeck to the inevitable red shirt. Die-hard Trekkies will catch every reference,, but even casual viewers will find a warm,, accessible tribute. The cartoons,, displayed on the museum's first floor,, range from quick gags to multi-panel strips and show how deeply the franchise is woven into German humour.
