About this event
This year, the Czech Republic is guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and the Klingspor Museum is marking the occasion with a generous loan from the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. The show traces Czech book art from Art Nouveau (works by Alfons Mucha and Richard Teschner) through the crystalline Prague Cubism of Kysela, Brunner and Kaláb, across Devětsil and Poetism (Karel Teige, Ladislav Sutnar) and on to surrealism, post-war picture books, samizdat publishing, and contemporary book design. Expect a feast of typography, binding, illustration and poster art that is rarely seen outside the Czech Republic.
