DAM Architectural Book Award 2026

About this event

The DAM Architectural Book Award, jointly organised by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum, honours the year's most outstanding publications in architecture. An independent expert jury evaluates submissions from around the world on criteria like design quality, material craftsmanship, content conception, and topicality. This year, the guest country of the book fair is the Czech Republic, so the jury will also single out the most compelling Czech entry. The award-winning books are presented in a dedicated exhibition at Stand J1587 in Hall 3.0 of the Frankfurt Book Fair. Visitors can browse a carefully curated selection of the best architecture books from categories ranging from monographs and theory to children's books and landscape architecture. The books themselves remain the focus: you'll encounter innovative layouts, tactile materials, and thoughtful editorial work that show how printed architecture books continue to shape the discourse. On the opening day, Wednesday 7 October at 19:00, the winners are revealed in a livestreamed ceremony on the DAM YouTube channel. The exhibition then runs throughout the fair, giving architecture enthusiasts, designers, publishers, and curious fair-goers a chance to discover new titles up close. The award carries no monetary prize – it is purely an honorary recognition. The display offers a quiet, content-rich contrast to the hustle of the trade fair halls, inviting you to slow down and appreciate the craft of the architecture book.
