Worschtsupp or in the Brew of Society

About this event

Margarete Rabow's photo series (with the collaboration of Anne Schwazz) is a conceptual work about societal roles and the tension between conformity and breaking out. Through staged portraits and tableaux, she traces the knowledge of shame, clicés, and resistive impulses. The work, originally created between 2016 and 2018 and continued in 2026, reads like a visual thought experiment: everything plays a role — and even those who step out of line still carry the cliché within them. Anne Schwarz's accompanying text underscores the poetic, ironic mood of the images. The exhibition takes place in the Projektäume gallery on the ground floor of Atelierfrankfurt and is accessible only by prior appointment. The result is a quiet, concentrated viewing experience away from big art crowds. If you are into staged photography and socially critical image concepts, this is an intimate highlight.
