About this event

To mark its 30th birthday, VGF (Frankfurt's public transport operator) opens the gates of its Eckenheim depot for a full-day family festival. The sprawling site features historic and modern trams and work vehicles up close, live stage music from Beatroot Whack and DJ Bjørn, and a raft of hands-on activities for kids. Little ones can have their faces painted, bounce on the inflatable castle, watch magic shows, and try balloon modelling, while a detailed electric model railway and a science workshop run by Senckenberg Museum's Aha!? Forschungswerkstatt keep curious minds busy. Eintracht Frankfurt and Girls Wanted Soccer add a sporting twist. For adults, there's a moderated discussion on the future of mobility (hosted by Steffen Popp) and a live link to the Tram-EM competition in Warsaw, where VGF is the only German entrant. Food and drink stalls are scattered across the grounds. The mood is relaxed, fiercely local, and squarely aimed at families with children from toddlers to school age. You can chat with depot staff, peek into workshops, and see the inner workings of Frankfurt's public transport at close quarters. Free prize draws pop up around the site, and the whole day runs with the easy-going feel of a neighbourhood street party.
