The Harlem Gospel Singers have spent 35 years taking gospel music around the world, blending it with R&B, jazz and pop. For their anniversary show “Sing Hallelujah”, nine outstanding American soloists and a six-piece live band take over the Großer Saal. The set moves from spiritual staples like “This Little Light of Mine” to fresh numbers such as “My Sweet Lord” and the anniversary highlight “Hallelujah You’re Worthy”. Expect call-and-response, handclaps, and plenty of moments where the audience is invited to sing along. Though the Alte Oper seating keeps things concert-hall formal, the night is built on celebration, togetherness and an energy that will almost certainly have you on your feet. If you enjoy powerhouse vocals and an evening of uplifting, groove-driven music, this show delivers exactly that.
