About this event

A musical comedy based on Billy Wilder’s film “Some Like It Hot” with music by Jule Styne, set in Prohibition-era Chicago. Broke jazz musicians Joe and Jerry witness a mob hit and go on the lam disguised as “Josephine” and “Daphne” in an all-girl band heading to Florida. Joe falls for singer Sugar Kane and must find a way to shed his disguise, while Jerry’s alter ego Dupne is pursued by a smitten millionaire – and then the gangsters reappear. The production, directed by Hans-Dieter Maienschein, lavishes on rapid-fire sight gags, swinging tunes, and plenty of charm. After 24 years in the repertoire, the Papageno Musiktheater will stage this show for the last time in 2027.
