Café del Mundo – Guitarize the World Tour

About this event

Jan Pascal and Alexander Kilian, performing as Café del Mundo, have become a standout act in instrumental guitar music. Their evening in the Mozart Saal of the Alte Oper blurs the lines between flamenco, classical, jazz, pop and rock – all conveyed purely through two acoustic guitars. The duo builds a lively musical conversation, weaving palm-muted percussion, crisp flamenco runs and richly melodic passages into a sound that has won them a devoted following across generations. The interplay between the two players has been likened to ‘fire and water’, and that contrast drives a performance that is both tightly synchronised and emotionally spontaneous. It’s a seated concert, but don’t expect a static recital – the energy builds to regular standing ovations as the guitarists push their instruments well beyond folkloric tradition into something that feels contemporary and direct.
