About this event
Serbian cellist Petar Pejčić, a student at the Kronberg Academy, makes his Alte Oper debut with an elegant programme of Dvořák, Chopin and Fauré. He is joined by the Estonian married couple Karolina and Hans Christian Aavik – she at the piano, he on the violin – in the intimate Mozart Saal. The afternoon opens with Dvořák’s atmospheric ‘Silent Woods’, then moves to Chopin’s impassioned G minor cello sonata, and culminates in Fauré’s late D minor piano trio, whose Andantino movement is treasured for its quiet, heart-wrenching lyricism. The roughly 75-minute recital captures the refined interplay of three musicians who met through the Kronberg Academy. An informal post-concert talk in the Mozart Saal with Pejčić and Dr. Markus Fein rounds off the afternoon, offering the audience a glimpse into the artists’ working lives and the stories behind their playing.
