The SCHIRN transforms into a spooky autumn landscape where contemporary art meets Halloween fun. Czech sculptor Anna Hulačová blends folk mythology with present-day anxieties, creating uncanny hybrid figures that seem to belong to both an ancient past and a speculative future. The exhibition dedicated to Leonor Fini dives into the dreamlike world of one of Surrealism’s most distinctive painters, whose canvases are ruled by enigmatic, powerful women and chimerical atmospheres. Throughout the evening, you can dip into Halloween-themed workshops, join theatrical guided tours that bring the artworks to life, and let off steam at a children’s disco in the MINISCHIRN. Games like the Witch’s Brew Oracle guessing contest add a playful edge, and artist José Osto sets up a photo station where you can capture your costume in a specially staged portrait. The festival is built for families with children aged roughly 4 to 12, though older siblings and adults will find enough visual strangeness in the exhibitions to keep them interested. The atmosphere is convivial and deliberately magic-infused rather than loud or rowdy; the disco stays kid-sized. Children under 3 enter free, and the flat admission covers everyone else, so it works as a joint outing for parents, grandparents, and little ghouls alike.
