Cookie Baking Tour with the Spielmobil

About this event

This mobile baking tour is run by the Abenteuerspielplatz Riederwald association, whose red Spielmobil vans have been a familliar sight in Frankfurts neighborhoods for decades. For Advent, one trailer turns into a tiny bakery: inside a heated tent, children roll out, cut, and bake butter cookies under the guidance of staff, with Christmas music playing. The finished biscuits can be decorated and taken home in a pretty package. At the same stop, a stick bread fire usually burns, and kids can toast dough wound around a stick over the flames – a cosy, campfire-style treat. Warm drinks are available for all on chilly days. The tour visits six districts over the three-week run; exact addresses are announced by the organiser. It’s aimed at families with primary-school-aged children who want a hands-on, traditional Advent activity that is a welcome change from shop-bought sweets.
