About this event
The 4th Frankfurt AI Symposium takes on the question of European digital sovereignty and the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence. Under the banner “AI and (European) Data Sovereignty”, invited speakers examine how Europe can build independence from non‑European AI systems while safeguarding data ownership, copyright, and societal resilience. The lineup includes EU policymakers like Bernd Lange (Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade) and Dennis Radtke (Chair of the Christian Democratic Workers‘ Association), academics such as Prof. Dr. Katja Winkler – who works at the intersection of Christian anthropology and social ethics – and software engineering authority Prof. emer. Dr. Hans Dieter Rombach, as well as industry strategists like Dr. Tobias Krafft, focused on certifying trustworthy AI, and Dr. Marcel Rohr, head of AI Strategy at Telekom MMS. Co‑organiser Dr. Michele Sciurba, a human rights lawyer, adds an international law perspective. The evening is split into two parts: from 4 pm to 7 pm, the speakers give keynote talks that feed into an open panel discussion, followed by a relaxed get‑together with drinks until 8 pm (open end) where conversations continue and new connections are made. The whole thing happens in the air‑conditioned hall of the Romanfabrik, a well‑established cultural venue in Frankfurt’s Ostend district.
