About this event
The staged sequel to Otfried Preußler's children's book about the robber Hotzenplotz, directed and adapted by Hans-Dieter Maienscheim, brings the story to life with classical music by Johann Strauss and others woven into the action. The robber Hotzenplotz escapes from his jail cell in the fire station, leaving the sergeant in his underwear, and promptly kidnaps the grandmother to demand a ransom of 555.55 marks. Kasperl and his friend Seppel, along with the sergeant, fortune-teller Mrs. Schlotterbeck and her crocodile-dog Wastie, set out to rescue her. The production is full of comedic oddities and physical humour, with scenes that recall silent films. It lasts about95 minutes including an interval and is recommended for children aged5 and older.
