Square the Circle places you inside a surround-sound tapestry woven from live electronics, sampling, and the woody tones of a chest organ. Ambient musician Luis Reich creates delicate, lo-fi textures from analogue tapes and live loops; Richard Ojijo adds layers of electronic manipulation drawn from his work with acts like Patrice and Modeselektor. Annie Bloch's ‘luvt’ project reimagines the baroque chest organ – its four flute-like registers fed through effects pedals – so that warm acoustic pipes melt into floating digital tones. Together, the trio fills the soaring nave of St. Bonifatius with an enveloping quadrophonic mix that treats the church architecture as part of the instrument. The evening sits somewhere between sacred music, contemporary composition, and free improvisation, rewarding those who want to slow down and listen deeply rather than chat or dance. Expect an unhurried, meditative atmosphere and an audience of open-eared listeners. The venue is not wheelchair accessible.
