About this event
Birds don’t sing out of joy, but because they have something to say. That idea drives Sceptical Birds, an intimate concert performance held at dawn before Frankfurt wakes. Frankfurt-based musician and performer Jacob Bussmann weaves a live electronic soundscape around the melodic twists and circling repetitions of bird calls, without ever simply imitating them. His intricate compositions break free from pop structures, fragmenting into syllables and swelling into grand, sweeping gestures. On stage, an androgynous figure moves hesitantly through the twilight, their voice slipping between genders and languages as songs grapple with existential questions hiding inside animal language. The early‑morning setting inside the Naxoshalle is part of the ritual: the first light filters into the industrial space, coffee and breakfast are on offer, and the calls of migrating November birds set the tone. It’s a meditative, slightly strange half‑hour that feels part dream, part philosophical enquiry.
