Sachsenhäuser Weihnachtsmarkt am Goetheturm
About this event
The market nestles at the edge of the city forest, right beneath the Goetheturm, a 43-metre wooden tower that pierces the trees. Fairy lights and the scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds and potato pancakes set the scene. Stalls sell hearty sausages, duck burgers, tarte flambée and hot apple wine from the Nöll press house, with sweet crêpes and chestnuts for dessert. Children get a carousel of their own, and the large adventure playground with slides, a climbing tower and a maze provides plenty of space to run around. A handful of craft stalls offer glass-bead jewellery, ceramic lamps and sheepskin accessories. The mix of forest, timber architecture and festive huts makes for a quieter alternative to the big city-centre Christmas markets. The market is closed on Totensonntag, 22 November 2026. Entry is free on all other days; bus route 48 runs directly from Südbahnhof to the Goetheturm stop. On opening evening the Sachsenhausen hunting horn players provide a ceremonial start.
