About this event

For Open Monument Day 2026, the Darmstadt-Kranichstein railway museum opens its doors and offers four different one-hour guided tours across the extensive site. The tours cover the history of the railway facilities, their preservation as monuments, and their current use – from the former marshalling yard to the impressive roundhouse and the historic signal tower. Between tours, the museum cafeteria serves coffee and cake, and information stands provide insights into the work of the heritage authority and the supporting association. The event is aimed at adults and young people aged 14 and over; participation is only possible with prior online booking.
