About this event

Archaeologist Kilian Treitl from the Archaeological Museum guides you through 90 minutes of Frankfurt’s hidden history, visiting three off-the-tourist-track sites in the city centre. The starting point is the exposed remains of the Kaiserpfalz franconofurd, a Carolingian royal court and power hub of the early Middle Ages, now preserved under the Stadthaus am Markt. You then continue to the Staufermauer, a rebuilt section of the 12th- and 13th-century city fortifications that still cuts through today’s streetscape. The final stop is the vaulted cellar of the Haus "Goldener Apfel", one of the last remnants of the former Judengasse, Frankfurt’s walled Jewish quarter. Inside its thick walls, visible construction layers and a historic keystone give a rare glimpse into centuries of building and daily life. Group size is strictly limited due to the tight cellar space, so email registration is essential. The cellar is accessed by stairs and is not wheelchair-accessible. The tour ends near Konstablerwache, making it easy to combine with a stroll through the city.
