In Extremo: Tranquilo II – The Acoustic Tour

About this event

For over three decades, In Extremo have blended hard rock with medieval instruments like bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and shawms, creating a sound that has come to define the genre of medieval rock. On their ‘Tranquilo II’ acoustic tour, they deliberately step away from large stages and high volume. Instead, the audience gets an unplugged evening that reimagines fan favourites and rarely performed gems in stripped-down, often playful arrangements. They are joined by Oliver “SaTyr” Pade and Niel Mitra from Faun, a band known for weaving ancient soundscapes into modern music, and violinist Justin Ciuche. The guest musicians add extra texture, making this a night where nuance and intimacy matter more than power chords. The venue itself – the Great Hall of Frankfurt’s Alte Oper – reinforces the sense of closeness. Longtime listeners will hear well-loved songs in a completely new light; newcomers who only know the band from festival stages might be surprised by the delicate, atmospheric side on display. There are no pyrotechnics or dense crowds, just a focus on musical detail and the shared moment.
