About this event
Actor and author Edgar Selge presents his novel “Jura’s Last Winter” and discusses it with critic Shirin Sojitrawalla. The book centres on the diary of 16-year-old Jura Rjabinkin, who starved during the Siege of Leningrad. Selge’s narrator reads the diary repeatedly until he develops a close mental bond with the boy, blending past and present, fiction and reality. Themes of youth, dreams, violence, intimacy and the power of literature to revive a murdered young person fill the pages. The evening promises a thoughtful literary experience, combining a reading with a conversation that invites quiet reflection and emotional resonance. The event takes place at Schauspiel Frankfurt, in cooperation between Literaturhaus Frankfurt and Schauspiel Frankfurt. Tickets are available in advance.
