Design and Democracy – Places of Democracy Finissage

About this event

The night turns around design and the question of how we share space when different interets collide. At its heart is the small final exhibition “WHAT WE SHARE”, featuring projects by students from the Design Theory department at HfG Offenbach. Their works explore forms of coexistence and common use: how can living together be shaped, and what possibilities arise when space has to be continually renegotiated? Prof. Dr. Tom Bieling, who heads the department and researches social design and participation, will guide visitors through the exhibits together with students and open a discusssion on design and democracy. This is the last chance to see the results of the year-long project “Places of Democracy / Orte der Demokratie”, which as part of the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 made democratic places in Offenbach visible through art. The finissage suits anyone curious about cities, participation and designed environments — no prior knowledge is needed, just an enquiring mind.
