Frankfurt English Speaking Theatre (F.E.S.T.) presents Amy Herzog’s taut, contemporary reimagining of Ibsen’s groundbreaking drama. Set in a world where the Helmers seem to have it all — a comfortable home, two children, and a loving marriage — the play peels back the layers of a carefully constructed life to reveal the secrets and power imbalances beneath. When old friend Kristine Linde turns up looking for work, and the terminally ill Dr. Rank starts making unexpected confessions, Nora’s hidden past catches up with her. A desperate loan, a forged signature, and the vengeful clerk Krogstad threaten to shatter the illusion she has worked so hard to maintain. The production keeps the period setting while drawing out the timeless questions about identity, agency, and the price of fitting in. Directed by Ellie Sellmann, the cast features Dinara Bammatkhanova as Nora, Thomas Dewitz as Torvald, Hannah Oberste-Brandenburg as Kristine, and Henry Angeles as the menacing Krogstad. The show unfolds in English across six performances at Kulturhaus Frankfurt, offering both evening and matinee options.
