About this event

Nivin and Linus both want to get rich quick, but for entirely different reasons. Nivin’s family is squeezed into a too-small flat, so she’s dreaming of a room of her own. Linus comes from a wealthy household and is saving up for a pony. When they spot posters offering a reward for a missing chameleon, the hunt is on – at first as rivals, then as a reluctant team. What follows is a fast-paced summer adventure through the urban jungle of Berlin, full of quirky characters, secret spots, and a growing bond that shrugs off the differences in their backgrounds. Based on the children’s book by Benjamin Tienti and Beatrice Davies, this 60‑minute stage adaptation mixes playful storytelling with a clear-eyed look at how money and social status shape children’s lives. The three performers switch between multiple roles, bringing the neighbourhood and its oddball inhabitants to life with minimal set and a lot of physical comedy. Produced by theaterperipherie, a Frankfurt-based post-migrant and feminist theatre group that creates work with and for young people, the play is performed in spoken German and is aimed at audiences aged 9 and above. The world premiere run takes place at the Junge Theaterwerkstatt am Zoo, a cosy seated venue tucked inside the Zoogesellschaftshaus, so children and their grown-ups can settle in for a focused, story‑driven hour that sparks conversations afterwards.
