In the SCHIRN courtyard, Tim Otto Roth's installation 'Vocal Revolutions' transforms the process of AI-generated voice and sound into a physical, meditative experience. Thirty-six spherical loudspeakers, suspended from 12 strands in three circles, rotate slowly above you like a celestial carousel, glowing in spectral colours that shift with the pitch – from deep red lows to icy blue highs. The sound is built entirely from sine tones and noise bands, creating an eerie, otherworldly composition that invites you to simply lie down and listen. As the speakers circle overhead, the installation reveals how artificial intelligence learns to generate vocal and instrumental timbres. It's a rare chance to eavesdrop on the inner workings of AI, not through screens or code, but as a pure, enveloping sound-and-light sculpture. Bring a blanket or yoga mat, and let the evening hours work their magic.
