In this artist talk, Tim Otto Roth discusses his site-specific sound installation "Vocal Revolutions", which premieres in the SCHIRN courtyard as part of the exhibition "The World Through AI". The installation features 36 glowing spherical speakers suspended like a chain carousel, emitting pure sine tones and noise bands, with each speaker illuminated in colours corresponding to pitch. Roth explores machine learning of voices and sounds, text- and image-based AI approaches, and the history of speaking machines. The talk offers insight into how AI learns to generate vocal and instrumental sounds, making the process transparent for visitors. The event is in English and takes place during the extended opening hours of the exhibition, with limited seating available.
