Three members of the Leipzig-based SQUASH Comics collective read from their recent graphic novels in the relaxed atmosphere of the Mousonturm Stern bistro, which opens at 7 pm for drinks and snacks. Lina Ehrentraut reads from “Toys”, a queer art-house sci-fi in which the protagonist Tony, uncomfortable in their own body, orders a shape-shifting sex robot and finds themselves in unexpected conversations about sexuality, love, and friendship. Giordano Dreissigacker presents “Ein Ameisenbär” (An Anteater), the story of Ser, the black sheep of the Montegusti restaurant empire, who after failing with their own place embarks on a journey that challenges received ideas of work, success, and family. Sarah Böttcher reads from “Drive”, a work that follows exhausted characters searching for connection; Maude retreats to a psychiatric facility on the outskirts of Berlin and there explores the possibilities and limits of collective living. The three readings blend intimate personal themes with playful, experimental visual storytelling. The half-seated bistro setup creates an almost living-room-like closeness to the narratives. The evening is aimed at anyone curious about Germany’s current independent comics scene and keen to experience queer narratives, family satire, or unvarnished inner worlds. The event is part of the Cozi – Comic and Zinefest Frankfurt 2027 and presented by ichi ichi.
