About this event
Ramatou Orchestra, an octet from Frankfurt, draws on Wolof for their name (meaning "parrot") and on diverse musical traditions for their sound. Their music weaves together African rhythms, neo-soul, fusion, and funk into what might simply be called jazz. A driving rhythm section, catchy melodies, inventive arrangements, and spirited improvisation create a sound that invites hips to sway and smiles to linger long after the last note. Support comes from Chevalier, whose jazz-pop blends dance, hip-hop, and R&B influences.
