About this event
Based on real events, this devised piece traces the anonymous death threats sent to Frankfurt lawyer Seda Başay-Yıldız in 2018, signed ‘NSU 2.0’, and the investigation that led to a police computer at the city's first precinct. The trail uncovered a chat group among officers swapping swastikas and anti-Semitic jokes, raising uncomfortable questions about far-right infiltration of the institutions meant to protect the public. On stage in the intimate Kammerspiele, director Nuran David Calis – known for blending documentary research with theatrical staging – uses three performers (Torsten Flassig, Lotte Schubert, Mark Tumba) who shift fluidly between perpetrators, victims and commentators. Video projections and a musical score by Vivan Bhatti reinforce the cold, confrontational atmosphere. The performance lasts roughly 95 minutes without an interval, and the text contains deliberately offensive and threatening language that some may find distressing. Calis and his team researched the case on the ground in Frankfurt and conducted interviews with politicians and activists, turning the findings into a concentrated stage essay. The production received the ‘Kollektiv. Impuls. Vision’ prize at the 2021 Hessian Theatre Festival.
