About this event

The story follows Michel Svensson, a kind-hearted but accident-prone boy living on the Katthult farm in Lönneberga. No matter what he does, mischief follows — whether it's getting his head stuck in the soup bowl while licking it clean, attempting to pull the maid Lina's aching tooth, or helping his little sister Ida see the farm from a new perspective. In the second part, the action moves to the village market, where Lina awaits a proposal and a thief gets his comeuppance. Director Hans-Dieter Maienschein weaves these episodes together with live music drawn from the works of Johann Strauss, Julius Fucík, and others. A violin and piano duo accompanies the five actors, shifting between classical waltzes, playful chase music, and even a nod to the Pink Panther theme. The tone is warm and comedic, with a set that lovingly recreates rural Sweden. Families will feel at home: the 90-minute running time includes an intermission, and the theatre recommends the show for children aged 5 and up. The intimate Papageno Musiktheater at the Palmengarten, with its steeply raked seating, gives everyone a good view of the action. On selected 'Familientag' Fridays, all tickets are 16 euros.
