This annual award ceremony celebrates the best in German-language debut literature. The evening features a jury laudation, the formal presentation of the prize, and a reading by the newly honoured author. This year’s winner is Valeria Gordeev, whose novel “Die Zikade entschlüpft ihrer goldglänzenden Hülle” (The Cicada Slips Out of Its Gold-Shimmering Shell) will be published by S. Fischer. The jury praised the work for its material intelligence and polyphonic orchestration. A hybrid format allows both in-person attendance at Literaturhaus Frankfurt and online streaming.
