Sylvie Kürsten’s documentary “Go Clara Go” follows the East German artist collective Clara Mosch, who in the 1970s turned the model socialist city of Karl-Marx-Stadt into a stage for avant-garde happenings, plein-air actions, and collective prints. Through interviews with the original members, the film reveals a subcultural hub where art and life remained inseparable – even under Stasi surveillance. After the screening, director Sylvie Kürsten, Dr. León Krempel (director of Kunsthalle Darmstadt) and Rosemarie Tuchelt (naxos.Kino) discuss how art can shift the boundaries of what can be said and shown. An evening for those drawn to non-conformist GDR art history and documentary film with a thoughtful conversation.
